Beacon
Beacon is a freight-forwarding software product that pairs businesses with couriers and gives users a clear view of travel of their products across-seas to their destinations.
Shipment Details
The shipment details page gives users a deep dive into their ongoing or completed shipment. Here, they can see the progress of the shipment, any outstanding documents that are required for the shipment to take place and any information about payments. The users also have the ability to complete various actions, such as booking the same shipment again, changing details and creating a PO number.
New Shipment Flow
Giving users the ability to create shipments easily and clearly was core to the success of the business. I used my experience in the airline industry to apply the principles I knew of creating no-friction booking flows so that users could make their way through the process with no stress or blockers. Modals
Many aspects of the product required full attention from the user since there is a rigorous process in place regarding shipments. To address this, I decided to use central modals. Sometimes central modals can create friction for users, but that's what made them so perfect for this product, because friction is exactly what was needed in some situations.
Reporting & Analytics
I designed Reporting in Beacon allow power users to supercharge the efficiency and economy of their shipping processes. They can see any combination of data by creating their own report dashboards with custom filters applied, change the date period, share with colleagues and also download reports for offline consumption.
